Floyd Edwin Howell was gloriously received into the presence of the Lord on Sunday, September 23, 2012. He was born in Dallas, Texas on January 20, 1926. He is survived by three children: Carol Joy Hagens, of Plano, Texas, and married to Patt Hagens; Floyd Edwin Howell III, of Dallas, Texas, and married to Claudia Behn Howell; and Edith Emily Eichler, of Fairview, North Carolina, and married to Kenneth William Eichler, Sr. The deceased is survived by four grandchildren: Aimee Rose Howell, Autumn Michelle Howell, Emma Mae Howell, and Kenneth William Eichler, Jr. Also surviving are four step-grandchildren and Emily Busch Turner, former wife and close friend and supporter of the deceased, and the mother of his children. Floyd Edwin Howell, Jr. was predeceased by his parents, Floyd Edwin Howell, Sr., and Edith Wicker Howell, and by his grandson, Sean Edwin Luis Murray, the child of Carol Joy Hagens. Floyd Edwin Howell, Jr. graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas and from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.A. in Latin American Trade. He served as a medic in the U.S. Army and also played the trumpet in the Medical Readiness Command Band from 1950-1952. He was employed as a social worker for the state in New Boston, Texas, but later joined the Dallas business of his father and uncle at Persian Rug and Carpet Cleaning Company founded by his father in 1928. Mr. Howell was a member of the following organizations in Dallas: the Highland Park Book Club, the Marilyn Meyers Dance Connections Club, the Dallas Museum of Art, the Dallas Arboretum, and the Forest Hills Neighborhood Association. Visitation will be held at Grove Hill Funeral Home, 3920 Samuell Boulevard on Friday, September 28, from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 29, at Wilshire Baptist Church, 4316 Abrams Road. A reception will be held at the church following the services. Interment will follow at Grove Hill Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to the Grief and Loss Center of North Texas, 4216 Abrams Road, Dallas, Texas 75214, or the Dallas Arboretum, or the Dallas Museum of Art.
