A popular family physician in the Shoals area for many years. He was the family doctor for the Claud Black Family (for instance). Dr. Archie Carmichael's residence was in Tuscumbia, Alabama and I believe they lived in the historic district around 4th Street. Claud was an old WW II Vet and heart patient. Once Claud ask Dr. Carmichael what he thought his outlook was. To which Doc humorously responded "well you made it this far, and in my attempts to treat you I have not killed you yet, so I think it looks pretty good for you".
This was just one example of the many ways Dr. Carmichael interacted with his patients to make them feel better.
