Joseph Thomas Jones, 92, formerly of Chester, N.H. died Thursday June 10, 2004 at the Veteran’s Home in Tilton.

Mr. Jones was born in Medway, MA a son of the late James E. and Lillian (Reardon) Jones.

While serving in the US Army as an Infantry Unit Commander, he fought in the India, China, Burma Theater during World War II with Merrill’s Marauders. He continued to serve his country in the Army until retiring in 1967. While serving in the Army, he earned the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge and the Bronze Star. After he retired, he worked at Forestal Corp for eight years. He enjoyed his family, hunting, fishing and working in his garden. He was an active member of St. Jerome’s Mission Church in Chester.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Virginia M. (Williams) Jones, of Sanbornton, NH, two sons, Robert P. Jones of Henniker, NH, Francis J. Jones of Bumpass, VA, two daughters, Kathleen M. Felix of Brooklyn, NY, Joanne M. Boyce of Sanbornton, seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, three sisters, Thelma Cherry, Lily Jones, Mary Jones all of Medway, MA.
