Peter J. “PJ” Sora Jr., 19, of Londonderry, N.H. died Tuesday, May 4, 2004 at Twentynine Palms, CA from injuries sustained in a Marine training accident.

He was born in Framingham, MA, on July 27, 1984 a son of Peter J. and Gail A. (Chilson) Sora Sr. of Londonderry.

He was a resident of Londonderry for the past eight years, formerly living in Milford, MA. “PJ”, as he was known, was a 2002 graduate of Londonderry High School where he was in the Marching Band, the Jazz Band and the Concert Band. While in high school he was a member and the Captain of the Londonderry High Wrestling Team. He was a recipient of a 1st degree Black Belt from the House of the Samurai.

“PJ” entered the US Marine Corp. on January 13, 2003 and became a Marine on April 11th. He was employed at the US Marine Recruiting Office in Manchester, NH from October 2003 until he was deployed to California in April as a Lance Corporal. “PJ” was involved with Marine affairs including the Marine Toys for Tots and the Recruiting Command. He was involved with various honorguards and colorguards including a colorguard for Senator Sununu at his military academy’s reception.

Besides his parents, “PJ” is survived by one brother, Carlo Macchi of Hoboken, NJ, his sister, Melissa Macchi and her boyfriend Jeff Kapatoes of Madison, WI, his paternal grandparents, Peter L. and Norma Sora of Mashpee, MA, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and all of his Marine brothers.

He was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Beatrice Chilson of Milford, MA.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 13th at 10:00am at St. Jude Parish, 435 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry.
