Sister Marion Soltis, 89, of Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc, died Sunday, January 21, 1990 at Holy Family Convent. Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 24, 10:30 m at Holy Family Convent Chapel. Presiding at the Mass of Christian burial will be Rev. Robert B. Reppen, O.Praem. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Sister was born June 6, 1900 at Mingo Junction, Ohio, daughter of the late Matthew and Anna Jacobs Soltis. The former Catherine Soltis entered the convent April 17, 1915, professing her vows in 1919. Sister received her Normal from Holy Family Academy and Normal with subsequent teacher training from Northern State Normal, Michigan. Sister taught at St. John Baptist, Plymouth, Wisconsin; Guardian Angels, West Point, Nebraska; St. Sylvester, Woodfield, Ohio; St. John, Antigo, Wisconsin; St. Francis de Sales, Manistique, Michigan; St. Ambrose, Ironwood, Michigan; St. Anne, Escanaba, Michigan; Immaculate Conception, Yuma, Arizona; St. Xavier Missioin, Tucson, Arizona; San Jose Indian Mission, P??, Arizona; St. John Indian Mission, ?? Arizona; St. Anthony, ??, Arizona, St. Theresa, Appleton, Wisconsin; St. Anthony, Neopit, Wisconsin, St. Philip, Green Bay, Wisconsin. Since her retirement in ??, Sister has been residing at the Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc.
Survivors include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; Sister Loyola ??; nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Holy Family Convent 4 pm to 8 pm Tuesday where a prayer service will be held at 7 pm at Holy Family Convent Chapel. Pfeffer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
