William W. Meade, 68, died in Bristol Memorial Hospital at 12:25 a. m. Dec. 15 after a lingering illness. He was a native of Russell County, but had made his home in Bristol since 1937. Mr. Meade was owner and operator of the Meade Grocery Store, and a former employee of the Yukon Pocahontas Coal Company of West Virginia. Survivors include his wife, Tina Cross Meade, and one son, Carl B. Meade of Bristol, Va.; two sisters, Mrs. Delpha Jessee of Detroit, Mich., and Mrs. Rebecca Childress of Cincinnati, Ohio; three brothers, James S. Meade, Chilhowie, Va., Conley I. Meade, Kingsport, Tenn., and Bryant Meade, Castlewood, Va., and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p .m. Dec. 17 at Blevins Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Harold W. Minor Jr., officiated. Interment was in Mt. View Cemetery. Pallbearers were Giles Cross, Emory Cross, Roger Cross, Charles Cross, Eulis Kiser, Fred Meade.
