She was born November 13, 1919 in Kokomo, Indiana to Verlin H. and Stella B. Graves. Edna Gluff graduated from Milligan College with a Bachelor of Science Degree, Cum Laude, May 24, 1943. She then went on and worked for the FBI for a short time, where she met James D. Gluff and whom later married, June 28, 1946. She taught Home Economics for 25 years in the state of Tennessee. In August, 1966, she moved to Bradenton, Fla., where she became the Supervisor of Home Economics of Manatee County. She worked another 25 years before retiring. During her years of working, Edna Gluff founded a program for young single women who needed a new start in life called, New Options, Inc. This program is still in force today. After retirement, she made lovely quilts and then began traveling the world over. She was a member of the Manatee United Methodist Church in Bradenton, Florida. She taught Sunday school and served on the Administrative Council for many years and numerous other capacities as she was needed by her church. Edna loved the Lord and loved her church deeply. She was a member of the Eastern Star.
Edna Gluff was preceded in death by her parents, Verlin H. Graves and Stella B. Graves, two brothers, Robert Graves and Paul H. Graves and husband, James D. Gluff (March 23, 1982).
Edna Gluff is survived by one son, James R. (Maureen) Gluff, Bradenton, FL; daughter, Judy G. (Steven) Rowley of Arcadia, FL; sisters, Maxene Asbury of LaFollette, TN, Annarene (J.S.) Welch of Atlantic Beach, FL; brother, Joseph H. (Inez) Graves of Taylor, MI; three grandchildren, Amber Gluff Whiten of Jennings, FL, Ryan Schofill of Bradenton, FL, Meagan Schofill-Stuart of Bradenton, FL; nieces, LeAnn (Danny) Adkins of LaFollette, TN, Michele (Jack) Leuders of Jacksonville, FL and Gretchen (John) Harris of Tampa, FL.
Visitation will be at Griffith-Cline Funeral Home on Thursday, February 15, 2007 from 4 PM to 7 PM. Funeral services will be held at Manatee United Methodist Church on Friday, February 16, 2007 at 1 PM in the afternoon. Interment will be at Skyway Memorial Gardens in Palmetto, FL.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to TideWell Hospice and Palliative Care in Bradenton, Florida or to the Manatee United Methodist Church.
