Died at Sime Road Internment Camp, Singapore which was under Japanese occupation at the time.He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Josiah Rowswell, of 7 Helena Avenue, Margate, Kent; husband of Gladys Rowswell (nee Beech), of 75 O'Gaunt Road, Newcastle, Staffordshire, Commemorated at Civilian War Dead Roll of Honour at St. George's Chapel in Westminster Abbey. He was Superintendent of Mailings at Penang and she was a Nursing Sister at Penang Government Hospital when they were married on Feb 5, 1929. Also survived by his two daughters, Elizabeth Rowswell b.1934 Newcastle, Staffs. and Jane Rowswell b.1937 Newcastle, Staffs. The family all returned from Australia on board "Rangitata" on August 26, 1945.
