Charles Ford Liday
Sept. 3, 1917-Sept. 28, 2012

A visitation will be held for Charles Ford Liday, 95, of Myrtle Point 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, at the Myrtle Point Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at Myrtle Crest Memorial Gardens, followed by a memorial service at noon at Emmanual Baptist Church, 282 W. Sixth Ave.

Ford Liday was born Sept. 3, 1917, in Grand Junction, Colo., to Hanion and Annie (Finley) Liday. He died Sept. 28, 2012, in Medford.

He lived in several states while growing up — including his favorite, Texas. At the age of 14, Ford made his first trip out west, riding the railcars, and later going back to retrieve his parents and siblings for the permanent move to Oregon. He joined the U.S. Navy during World War II and proudly served his country before returning home to his young family.

While he worked at many different occupations, Ford found his lifelong calling as a carpenter, where he gave his best to every job. Faith and family were the top priorities in his life and these values were always present until he was called home. He had a soft spot for animals of all types and could coax even the shyest creature to his side.

Ford is survived by a brother, Claude; children and their spouses, Karon and Gifford Hills, Garry and Louise Liday, Jan and Billy Frazier and Steve and Ann Liday; and daughter-in-law, Melinda Liday. Ford dearly loved his 14 grandkids, 22 great-grandkids, three great-great-grandkids, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Kent; his loving wife of 58 years, Helen; two sisters, Thelma Opela and Bonnie Adams; and two brothers, Carl and Merl.

Arrangements are under the direction of Amling Schroeder Funeral Service, Myrtle Point Chapel.
