Letha was a creative person who enjoyed doing things herself -- she re-upholstered her living-room furniture, made her own drapes, made clothes for her kids, learned to make macrame objects, afghans, and embroidered tea towels. She also enjoyed helping Harold do the big maintenance projects around the house -- from remodeling the kitchen and hanging new cupboards to laying concrete driveways or replacing the engine in a car! She wasn't afraid to tackle any new project!
She also enjoyed travelling during the last few years of her life. She and Harold first bought an old Dodge hightop van and fitted the interior with a bed, a kitchen and a little seating area. After a few years, they then bought a Hi-Lo travel trailer and went all around the country camping and seeing the sites. They especially enjoyed camping in Deming, NM and hunting for arrow-heads there. They also went to Kearny, Neb. a few times to watch the arrival of the Sandhill cranes. They liked to have their kids and grandkids join them for an annual camp outing. That was always fun as each year a different person was responsible for picking out the spot and making all the arrangements. It was interesting to see how over the years the meals got more elaborate and adventurous.
The greatest loss in Letha's life was that of their triplet boys who died at birth in 1954.
