Harry (as he was called) had a sister Catherine,(who was called Amy)she was 3 years older and a brother James Douglas who was a year older. After Henry was born then 3 years later a sister Edith Louisa was born and 3 more years produced a brother Cecil Roderick who died shortly after his mother while still in his infancy.
Henry's mother Cecilia died suddenly when he was only six from pneumonia, leaving her husband to raise the four surviving children. He had some help from his mother-in-law, Lady Amelia Douglas.
