Charles Wallace Hausafus was the second of five children born to Melvina Shelton and Alleander Hausafus. Born and raised in Marshalltown, Iowa, his first marriage was to Johanna Rickeri 13 Feb 1907 in Marshalltown, Iowa. Unfortunately this marriage was not to last - within 17 months his new bride was struck with typhoid and died from complications of pneumonia at the age of 26.
