Sister Benedict Dier, age 71, a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, residing at San Damiano Convent, Slinger, Wis., died Friday, May 23, 1997, at St. Mary Hospital, Milwaukee.
Funeral Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, 1997, at Holy Family Convent Chapel. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial was Rev. Samuel D. Jadin O.Praem. with burial at Holy Family Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The former Eileen Dier was born August 23, 1925, in Algoma, daughter of the late William and Marie Richmond Dier. She entered the convent in 1943 and professed her vows in 1946. Sister Benedict served as a homemaker at the Marist Seminary, Washington, D.C.; St. Edward, Mackville, Sacred Heart Seminary, Oneida, Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc, San Damiano, Slinger, Ozanam Home, New Berlin, St. Clare Convent, Manitowoc. St. Francis Convent, Manitowoc; St. Joseph, San Miguel, Our Lady of Guadalupe, Cowlic, Sacred Heart, Covered Wells, St. John's Boarding School, Komatke, St. Peter, Bapchule, St. Catherine, Topawa, Ariz.; St. Francis Xavier, Petoskey, Mich.; Sacred Heart, Ayrshire, Iowa; and St. Joseph Home, West Point, Neb. She retired to San Damiano Convent, Slinger, in 1995, where she helped prepare meals for the sisters. She is a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity.
Survivors include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; a brother and sister-in-law, William and Doris Dier, Manitowoc; other relatives and friends.
Friends called from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc. A prayer service was held at 7 p.m. at Holy Family Convent Chapel.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, assisted the family with funeral arrangements.
