Elijah was one of the leading families who lived in Pittston prior to the Revolution. He was part of the Susquehannah Land Company where Connecticut residents moved to what is now Pennsylvania. Per the Pittston History: "Elijah Silsbee was here in 1778. His residence was on the north side of Parsonage street, opposite James L. Giddings."

It is unknown if Elijah is buried in Mosier but his home could not have been far. His daughter, Lucinda Silsbee Giddings, has a headstone in the cemetery.

Using the land records, Elijah had a son Elijah Jr and daughter, Lucinda. He may have also had sons Reuben and David. Further research is needed.
