Mrs. Pope, widow of W. A. Pope, died early today at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital after a long illness.
She was born and reared in Hardeman County and had lived in Mercer for the past 75 years. She was a member of Mercer Baptist Church.
She is survived by three sons, W. J. Pope of Bruceton, the Rev. Thomas W. Pope of Brownsville and William Pope of North Little Rock, Ark.; five daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Robinson of Jackson, Mrs. Richard Martindale of Memphis, Mrs. Herman Smith of Dyersburg, Mrs. Charles Walker of Macon, Ga., and Mrs. Robert Cain of Mercer; 21 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ray Martindale, Lee Petty, Bobby Pope, Roland Pope, David Walker and Bill Robinson.
