DECATUR - Dale Long, 69, of Decatur, passed away on Thursday (March 31, 2005)at 5:25 p.m. in his home.
Dale was born on May 11, 1935, in Decatur, the son of William L. and Mable Marie (Hayes) Long. He married Vera Lee Hadley on November 22, 1953, in Decatur. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He collected memorabilia and was a Chicago Cub and Illini fan.
Surviving are his wife Vera of Decatur; special sister-in-law Gladys Long; sister Kay Ridlen of Macon; children; Pam Long of Decatur, Ellen Stepney of Decatur, Sandy and Mike Peoples of Decatur, Debbie and Ted Peoples of Boody, IL, Linda Swartz of Decatur; grandchildren Jennifer Long; Joe Peoples; Shardee' Stepney, all of Decatur; great grandchildren, Arion, Mya, Destini, Triniti, C.J. and Kaleb.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; two sisters and one grandson, Mikey.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. on Manday, April 4, 2005, in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home with Pastor Wray Offerman officiating. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, April 3, 2005 in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Interment with "Flight Home" Ceremony will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or to St. John's Hospice.
