Zona Beatrice "Granny" Atkinson of Mullin, Texas, died
Monday July 29, 1996 at Brownwood Regional
Medical Center, Brownwood, Texas. She was 77 years
of age.
Mrs. Atkinson was born January 18, 1919 at Phoenix
Arizona to Olin P. and Ora (Moore) Curtis.
She married Jack Atkinson on December 7, 1933 at
Mullin, Texas
She had made her home in Mills County most of her life.
She was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
She was a nurse having served in that capacity for 33
years many years in the emergency room at
Brownwood Hospital. She was affectionately known as
"Granny".
Mrs. Atkinson was preceded in death by one son, Louis
C. and one baby daughter.
Survivors are her husband, Jack Atkinson of Mullin and
one son, Joe Atkinson, also of Mullin.
The funeral was Thursday August 1, 1996 at 10:00 a.m.
at the Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home Chapel in
Goldthwaite. Burial was in the Ridge Cemetery at
Ridge, Texas.
Pallbearers were Billy Hale, J.D. Berry, Hawley
Jernigan, J.D. Kight, R.L. Gibbons, Horace Brooks,
and Jack Edington.
The family requests donations be made to the Lupus
Foundation.
Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home in Goldthwaite was in
charge of arrangements.
