Born December 17, 1882 in Copper Hill, Virginia, he was a son of Noah P and Martha Wimmer.
Rev. Wimmer was a graduate of Daleville Academy in Salem, Virginia and Bridgewater College in Bridgewater, Virginia. He was a well known evangelist, having traveled over the eastern United States for many years. Rev. Wimmer was active as a minister in the Church of the Brethren for over 60 years prior to retiring.
Since 1946 he had been a resident of the Indiana area. He held pastorates in Selma, Virginia, Bluefield, West Virginia, Union Bridge, Maryland, Plum Creek, near Elderton, Oakdale Church of the Brethren, near New Bethlehem,County Line at Champion, Pa, and Montgomery Church near Clymer.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah Elizabeth Eller Wimmer; one son and five daughters: Wilbur S and Mrs Lee (Vera) Forthman, both of Sykesville, Maryland; Mrs Nevin (Ethel) frailey, Los Angeles, California; Mrs Carl (Juaniata) Armstrong, Indiana; Mrs Delone (Bertha) Wood of Shelocta; Mrs George (Mary) Winter, Ford City; two brothers and two sissters: Joseph, Banks, Mrs Eliza Williams and Mrs Evelyn Poff, all of Copper Hill, Virginia; also 18 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received after 7:30 pm Friday and from 3-5 pm and 7-9 pm Saturday at Robinson-Lytle's, Indiana. Friends may pay their respect at the church on Sunday from 1 to 2 pm.
Services will be held Sunday at 2 pm in the Plum Creek Church of the Brethren, Rev. Luke Bowser and Rev. James Daugherty will officiate.
Interment in Elderton Cemetery.
