Edward J. Rutledge, 69 years old, born and spent his boyhood days west of Birmingham, died at his home in Ottumwa May 1, 1931, the result of a heart attack. He had resided in Ottumwa for 41 years. He is survived by his wife, formerly Ida Bott of Birmingham, two sons, Donald of Ottumwa and Edward of Kansas; daughters, Mrs. Harry Buchanan, Ottumwa; one brother, William, Ottumwa and three grandchildren. Two sons preceded him in death.
