He was born July 14, 1926, in Middleburg, to the late Dewey and Clarice Hayes.
Mr. Hayes was a U.S. Army Veteran and retired from Tenneco. He was a member of the San Carlos Golf Course and was an avid golfer up until the time his wife, Wilma, became ill and he became her caregiver.
He was preceeded in death by his wife, Wilma Hayes, on March 7, 2006; a son, Randall; and a sister, and brother-in-law, Marylois (Ralph) Hammond.
He is survived by three loving daughters, Melanie Baugh, Zanesville, Deborah (Alex) Petes, Walton Hills, and Robin Lind of Pataskala; seven grandchildren, David (Stacy) Baugh, Lori Baugh, Steven (Ellen) Baugh, Elaine Fritz, Russell Fritz, Erin (Dan) Shindel, and Sarah (Jordan) Irwin; five great-grandchilden, brothers, Dean (Veleta) Hayes, and Roger (Betty) Hayes; sisters, Ellouise (Lewis) Coleman and Nancy Hayes; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
According to Dale's wishes, a caring cremation has taken place. A private memorial service will be held for the family.
Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, New Concord.
Mock-Miller Funeral Home, New Concord, is entrusted with the services.
