BUCKNER DUNCAN PASSES AWAY AT HIS HOME TODAY
Funeral Will Be Held Thursday At First Christian Church
S. Buckner Duncan, prominent local resident, died this morning at 9:15 o'clock at his home at 1216 Chestnut street following an illness of several months.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the residence with interment following in Fairview Cemetery. The services will be in charge of the Rev. Dr. A.B. Houze, pastor of the First Christian Church.
Mr. Duncan was born in Warren county near Browning on October 2, 1861, and was a son of the late J. Dillard Duncan and Jane Covington Duncan, who were prominent among the older Warren county families.
In 1901 he married Miss Nannie Adams of this city who survives.
Until the time his health failed him about two years ago Mr. Duncan was active in civic affairs of the community. For several years he served as a member of the Common Council. He was formerly engaged in the grocery business here but retired a number of years ago.
