Clarence J. Oesterling age 103 of Rushville passed away Oct. 5th at his residence.

He was born Aug. 1, 1909 in Decatur County, the son of the late Anthony & Elizabeth (Fehrmann) Oesterling. He married Clara Happ in 1934 and she preceded him in death in 1968. He then married Bonnie Wolf who also preceded him in death in 1998.

Clarence lived in Cincinnati, OH while working as a distributor for the Western Auto Stores. In 1947, he moved to Rushville where he owned and operated the Western Auto Store until his retirement. He was associated with the beginning of the Little League Ball diamond and was a part owner in the first radio station here in Rushville. He was the oldest living member of St. Mary Catholic Church at the time of his death. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus 769, PKG; and served honorably in the Army during WWII.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son John Oesterling of Indianapolis; three grandchildren; niece and caretakers Rosie & Joe Chance of Rushville and several other nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wives, he was preceded in death by his daughter Judy Oesterling; brothers Frank, Lawrence & Walter Oesterling.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Tuesday October 9th at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Jeremy Gries as celebrant. Burial will follow at Rushville's Calvary Cemetery with Military Honors.

Visitation will start Monday Oct. 8th with the rosary at 3:45 PM and conclude at 8:00 PM at Todd Funeral Centre & Crematory. Memorials may be made to the donor's charity of choice. Online condolences at www.toddfuneralhome.com
