They had an adopted son, Walter Knox--age 7 years, on the 1910 census, born in Maryland and living in their household.
Amanda Susan (Lohr) Steiding died 21 March 1915 in Deer Park, Garrett County, Maryland and was buried in Deer Park Cemetery, Garrett County, Maryland.
Inscription on the stone reads: Rest in Peace.

Mrs. Bernhardt Steiding died at her home near Deer Park, last Friday. The funeral services were held in the Lutheran church at Deer Park, Tuesday at 10 o'clock a. m. and were conducted by Rev. O. A. Breamer, pastor of the Oakland Lutheran church. The interment took place in the Deer Park cemetery. The deceased is survived by her husband. She was aged 71 years.)
