Amanda Susan Lohr was the daughter of Henry Peter Lohr and Margaret Abernathy Lohr. Amanda was born 25 July 1843 in Virginia (now West Virginia).
On 09 November 1902, she married John Bernhardt Lebrecht Steiding--a widower, in West Virginia.
They had an adopted son, Walter Knox--age 7 years, on the 1910 census, born in Maryland and living in their household.
Amanda Susan (Lohr) Steiding died 21 March 1915 in Deer Park, Garrett County, Maryland and was buried in Deer Park Cemetery, Garrett County, Maryland.
