Roy Thomas Daugherty, World War II Vet, Dies At Outwood

Roy Thomas Daugherty, 39, World War II veteran, died at Outwood Veterans hospital near Dawson Springs at 3 o'clock this morning.

Mr. Daugherty had been at the hospital since January. He suffered a heart attack last week while undergoing treatment there.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete. However, the service will be held here.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Rowena Daugherty; a son, Roy Thomas Daugherty Jr.; his mother, Mrs. Carrie Daugherty, all of this city; a brother, Jack Adams Daugherty, Fort Worth, Tex. He was a nephew of Mrs. Allen Jenkins and Mrs. S.B. Duncan, both of this city.

Mr. Daugherty was born here Oct. 4, 1909. He served with the Army Air Force as an aerial gunner in the Pacific theater for three and one-half years.

R. THOMAS DAUGHERTY - Funeral services for R. Thomas Daugherty will be conducted at 3 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the Gerard chapel, the Rev. Dr. Harold J. Purdy, pastor of the First Baptist church, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery. Mr. Daugherty died yesterday at Outwood Veterans hospital. A native of Bowling Green, he was born Oct. 4, 1909, a son of Mrs. Carrie A. Daugherty and the late Roy M. Daugherty. He was married to Miss Anna Rhea Bradford, of Bowling Green, who died in 1940. On April 2, 1946, he was married to Mrs. Rowena Roemer, City. Mr. Daugherty, who had been working at Fort Worth, Texas, entered the Bowling Green Business university last September. He had been ill since January. Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are a son by his first marriage, R. Thomas Daugherty, Jr., City, and a brother, Jack Daugherty, Fort Worth.
