Sister Regine Gaspers, 64, of Silver Lake College, Manitowoc, died Wednesday, August 8, at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Holy Family Convent Chapel, Manitowoc. The Rev. Julian Resch, O.Praem, will officiate and burial will be in Holy Family Convent Cemetery.
Sister Regine, nee Gertrude Gaspers, was born Oct. 25, 1914, at Lindsay, Neb., daughter of the late Michael P. and Margareth Wagner Gaspers. She entered the Order of Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity in 1929 and professed her vows in 1933. She received her masters degree from Notre Dame University with a major in history and a minor in English. She taught schools at St. Mary School, Kaukauna, St. Theresa School, Appleton; whitelaw (sic), Sherwood, Greenleaf, Seymour, Hollandtown and Sturgeon Bay, Wis.; Santa Parbara (sic), Calif., Yuma, Ariz., the bishop Baraga School at Marquette, Mich., and since 1969 had been assistant professor at Silver Lake College.
Survivors include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, four brothers, Michael of Rushville, Neb., Martin and Paul of Lindsay, Neb., and Joseph of Wenatchee, Wash.; and four sisters, Miss Mary Gaspers of Holiday, Fla., Mrs. Helen Schaecher of Lindsay, Mrs. Pauline Bickel of Omaha, Neb., and Mrs. Rose Smith of Osceola, Neb.
Friends may call at the convent 7:30 to 9 o'clock this Thursday evening, where a memorial service will be at 7 o'clock in St. Mary Chapel. Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is in charge of arrangements.
