A SUDDEN SUMMONS
A. L. Galloway, a Large Land Owner and Well Known About Pleasant Hill Passes Away

Pleasant Hill, Ill., Feb 7.-- A. L. Galloway, an old citizen of this place, died on the 4th inst. The summons came suddenly, although he had been in very poor health for the past three years. He was at the post office at about 3 p.m. on the 3d inst., as was him custom and went home in his usual health. In less than an hour he received a stroke of paralysis from which he never rallied, but remained unconscious until his death, which occurred at 6 o'clock p.m. on the 4th inst. Deceased was well known all over this county and was one of the largest land owners in this part of the county. The remains were buried in the cemetery here yesterday, Sunday. A. Orr, of Roodhouse, conducted the services and a large crowd attended. Deceased was 69 years old. Our undertaker, G. M. Bybee, went to Quincy and procured an elegant metallic burial case for the remains.
