Mr. Boyd Barnard, age 92, and longtime resident of Mertens, passed away July 21, 2013 in Grapevine, Texas. He was born November 28, 1920 in Hill County to the late Tom and Florence Brewer Barnard. After his graduation from Mertens High School, Boyd went into the Army and served his country during World War II. He was then honorably discharged and returned to Milford to farm with his parents. There he met and married Nina Ruth Briles on November 10, 1946 and she preceded him in death in 2011. Boyd farmed in Hill and Ellis Counties until he retired. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Hillsboro and was an active member of the Milford community. Boyd was a member of the Milford ISD School Board for 12 years until his daughter graduated in 1966 and also a member of the Lions Club.
Also preceding him in death were two infant sons, Robert Dan and Leslie Ray Barnard; two brothers, Lloyd and Dwain Barnard; one sister, Martha Killough and one granddaughter, Jessica Bradford.

Survivors include: one daughter, Linda Bradford and husband, Tim of Southlake; one grandson, Jonathan Bradford and wife, Robin of Justin; three nieces, two nephews and many others relatives.
