Dr John H Alderson, 68, of Pana, died at 6:15 a.m. today at home.
He was mayor of Pana from 1941 to 1945.
Dr Alderson practiced medicine in Pana for 36 years. He was a member of the Christian County Medical Society and the American Medical Society. He also was a Mason for 30 years in Pana, and was a veteran of World War I.
He was born in Chicago on Aug 24, 1891, a son of Dr John and Elizabeth Alderson.
He leaves his wife, Maude, two daughters, Mrs Elizabeth Barnum, Columbiana, OH, and Mrs Mary Jane Rudow of Pana; a son, John, Arlington Heights; three sisters, Mrs Esther Jameson and Mrs Mary Fortner, Spartanburg, SC, and Mrs Alice Wohlgemueth, Morrison, CO; and a brother, William, Detroit, MI.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the McCracken Funeral Home, Pana. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery,Pana. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Saturday.
