Born in Winnsboro, he was a son of the late Holbrook and Helen Berry Rion. He was well known to generations of Columbians as Mr. "Happy" during the years he managed the Township Auditorium. He was a member of Trinity Cathedral.
Surviving is a son, James W. Rion of Manassas, Va., daughters, Mrs. Willodene R. Lumpkin and Mrs. Irving R. Avery of Columbia and Mrs. Mary Berry R. Wittenberg of Sumter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 4 p.m. Monday in Elmwood Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. S. F. James Abbott.
Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel is in charge.
