Leaksville, July 2--Joseph Harry Scales, 65, died today at his home in Cascade, Va., after an illness of several months. Funeral will be held Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Cascade Presbyterian Church, with burial in the family cemetery. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Grace Fitts Scales; two sons, Joseph H. Scales, Jr., of Goochland, Va., and Edgar F. Scales, of Bommer, W. Va.; three daughters, Mrs. George Hairston of Cascade, Miss Elizabeth Scales of the home, and Mrs. Adolph Evans of Baltimore, Md.; two brothers, Edgar F. Scales of Yanceyville, and P. P. Scales of Axton, Va.; one sister, Miss Lizzie Scales of the home ; and six grandchildren.
