OCEANA — Edna Ruth Sparks-Repass, better known as "Sue" to family and friends, 78, of Oceana, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2012, in the comfort of her home due to a short battle with cancer.

She was born August 19, 1934, in McComas, WV, a daughter of the late Joseph "Wattie" Sparks (1904-1967) and Hazel Gertrude Barlow-Sparks (1912-2004). She was one of fourteen children, three sisters and ten brothers. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Archie Dehard Repass (1927-1956) whom she married on May 11, 1951 in Lynco, Wyoming County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Wyoming County, WV, 1951, Page 198, Application Date: May 5, 1951); three brothers, Elmer Lee Sparks (1928-2005) & wife Opal Sparks (Deceased), Donnie Sparks (Deceased) & wife Sandy Sparks (Deceased), and Carl Eugene "Boogie" Sparks (1942-2012); two sisters, Evelyn Gertrude Sparks-Repass (1930-1983) and husband William "Bill" Walter Repass (1919-1965), Mildred "Jean" Sparks-Dillo (1936-Deceased); an infant daughter, Connie Jean Repass (Deceased); and a very dear and close friend, Edith Hopkins (Deceased).

Those left to cherish her memory are one son Jackie Ray Repass & wife Phyllis Repass of Surfside Beach, SC; and one daughter Kay Repass-Rose & husband Billy Gene Rose of Oceana; five grandchildren Pamela Jean "PJ" Murphy & husband Ed Murphy of Apex NC, Courtney Repass & Jon Martin of Glen View, Kelly Rose & wife Kerrina Rose of Baileysville, Gregory Rose & companion Robin Massey of Bolt, and Jacqui Rose-Hill & husband Ryan Hill of Pipestem; eight great-grandchildren Mattie Murphy, Georgia Murphy, Joana Martin, James Martin, Hannah Rose, Colton Rose, NickForren, Tom Forren, Isaac Hill, Nathan Hill, Caleb Hill, and Callie Hill; seven brothers, Joe Sparks & wife Mary Sparks of Phoenix AZ, Bob Sparks & wife Sharon Sparks of Newborn TN, Douglas Sparks & wife Pam Sparks of Abingdon VA, Ricky Sparks & wife Maxine Sparks of Peterstown, Fred Sparks & wife Francis Sparks of Princeton, Delton Stanley "Hambone Sparks (1949-2018) & wife Peggy Sparks of Beckley, Dean Sparks & wife Annetta Sparks of Princeton; one sister Janie Sparks-Stanger of Bluefield; two brothers-in-law Eugene Wilson Dillo (B. 1936) of Fayetteville, NC, and Robert E. "Buddy" Repass (1931-2015) of Oceana; two sisters-in-law, Joyce Sparks of Myrtle Beach, SC, and a very special and dear sister-in-law Ann Santmyer of Oceana; a special niece better known as her second daughter Carol Repass-Duncan & husband Gerald Duncan of Kopperston and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends and neighbors, including three special neighbors Debbie, Rene and Sharon.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 6, 2012, in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, with Pastor Melissa White officiating. She will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny.
