He was preceded in death by his son in 1938 and his wife Harriet in 1995.
He is survived by his son, John and Sharon Baker of Roseville; his grandchildren, John H. IV and Shirley Baker (caregiver) of Jenison, Russ Baker of Roseville, Rick Baker of California, Stacey and Mike Niedzweicki of Wisconsin, Kelli Baker of Roseville, Scott Baker and Alycia Ustick (fiance') of Roseville; his step-grandchildren, Robin and John Wilson of of Texas, Wayne and Anne Greene of Texas; great-grandchildren, Pam and Greg Vaughn of Hudsonville, John H. V Baker and Jennifer Mattson (fiance') of Grandville, Sara and Jessica Niedzweicki of Wisconsin, Rusty Baker of Roseville, Amber and Alex Wilson of Texas, Kayla and Micheal Greene of Texas; great great-grandchild, Katie Vaughn.
He is also survived by his sister, Henrietta Christensen of Kentwood; sister-in-law, Ruth Haverkamp of Zeeland; many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Baker was a long time member of the Great Lakes Chorus and held many corn roasts for the choir members.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the VanderLaan Funeral Home with Chaplain Albert Dykstra Sr. officiating. Interment Georgetown Cemetery. Friends may meet with the family at the funeral home Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. VANDERLAAN-HUDSONVILLE
