Sister Assumpta Hannas, 78, of Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc, died late Monday morning in the convent.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Holy Family Convent Chapel. The Rev. Julian Resch, O.Praem, will officiate and burial will be in the convent cemetery.
Sister Assumpta, nee Julia Mary Hannas, was born Dec. 8, 1898, in Iron Mountain, Mich., daughter of the late Dominic and Mary Ceasar Hannas. She entered the Order of Franciscan Sister of Christian Charity in 1914 and professed her vows in 1918. She served the community as teacher in Kaukauna, Rice Lake, New Holstein, Greenleaf, Kewaunee, Waukesha and Manitowoc, Wis.; Delaware, Ohio; Wellsburg, W. Va.; Manistique, Ironwood, Menominee and Petoskey, Mich., retiring to Ozanam Home in New Berlin in 1967 and later to Holy Family Convent.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Joseph Draxler of Iron Mountain; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Oliver Hannas of Green Bay and a nephew, Joseph Draxler Jr. of Iron Mountain.
Friends may call in Holy Family Convent 7:30 o'clock to 9 o'clock this Tuesday evening. A prayer service will be held at 7 o'clock in St. Mary Chapel in the convent. Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
