Sister Mary Ellen Harlow, age 75, a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, died Thursday, January 28, 1993, at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc.
Funeral Seervices will be 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 1, 1993, at the Holy Family Convent Chapel. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Julian C. Resch, O. Praem. with burial in the Holy Family Cemetery, Manitowoc.
She was born February 15, 1917, in Chilton, Wis., daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Hertel Harlow. Sister earned a B.A. Degree from Holy Family College, Manitowoc, Wis., and a M.A. Degree in Library Science from the Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C. Sister Mary Ellen entered the convent in 1930, professing her vows in 1935. She served as an elementary school teacher in Sturgeon Bay, Kaukauna, Green Bay, Waukesha, Two Rivers, Wis.; Escanaba, Mich.; Delware, Wellston,and Cambridge, Ohio. She served as a secretary at Ironwood Catholic High School, Ironwood, Mich., and as a librarian at St. Aloysius, Kaukauna; Holy Family College, Manitowoc; Sacred Heart Seminary, Oneida; St. Norbert College, DePere; Catholic Memorial High School, Waukesha, Wis.; St. John and Menominee Catholic Central, Menominee, Mich.; St. Willibrord and Aquinas Catholic High School, Chicago, Ill.; and Central Catholic High School, West Point, Neb. For the past several years, she has coordinated the Franciscan Artistry Card Shop at the Motherhouse. She was a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity.
Survivors include the Franiciscan (sic) Sisters of Christian Charity; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Clark, Prairie Village, Kan., and Mrs. Florence Hudy, West Allis, Wis.; two brothers and three sisters-in-law, James Harlow, Milwaukee, Wis., Alfred and Lou Harlow, Green Bay, Wis., Mrs. Ruth Harlow, Kewaunee, Wis., and Mrs. Frances Harlow, Fond du Lac, Wis.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Friends may call on Sunday, January 31, 1993, from 4-8 p.m. at the Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc, where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. at the Holy Family Convent Chapel.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, assisted the family with funeral arrangements.
