William's mother, Elisabeth Hall was child #4 of Hannah (Abbe) Hall and Josiah Hall. Elisabeth married William Balch and one of their children was STEPHEN BALCH, b. Nov. 29, 1787

Hannah Abbe, b. in Windham, June 28, 1739. Married in Mansfield, March 29, 1759, Josiah Hall, b. March 27, 1738, son of James (William John) Hall of Mansfield. They removed to Rhode Island about 1770.

Elisabeth Hall (b. Sept. 29, 1769, m. Oct. 26, 1786) and William Balch had children: Stephen, b. Nov. 29, 1787; Elizabeth “Betsey”, b. Oct. 27, 1789 d 14 May 1850 at age 58 in Mansfield Tolland, CT; and Origen, b. Jan. 15, 1794.
