The 1892 New York State Census shows Mattie was living at home with her parents and siblings in Jay, New York. The registry shows her father as being a farmer. The following people are recorded as living in the household:

Mattie J.A. Prime 11
Victor W. Prime 24 (farmer)
Emma Prime 25 (teacher)
Note that Victor and the second Emma may have been living next door as the census does not show separate residences).

The 1920 US Census shows Mattie is now 23 years of age and still living at home with her mother Helen, who was 77 and a widow. No other family members are recorded as being in the home.

Both the 1930 and the 1940 US Census shows the Charles and Mattie living together with no other family members in the home, in Upper Jay, Essex County, New York. In 1940 they were living next door to Charles' brother and sister, Frank and Lizzie Cutler. All were unemployed and not seeking work (retired?).
