Eleanor Muriel Brelsford, 91, of Mountain Top died Monday in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center,Plains Township.

She was born in Wilkes-Barre on Aug 24, 1913, daughter of the late Arthur Auman and his wife Grace Lillian McDonnell. Her father died when she was just 21 days old and she was adopted by Grace's second husband, Fred Van Wagenenen.

She was married to Harris Salsburg on April 12, 1945. Their only child, Susan, was born in 1949. Harris died in 1971.

Eleanor was active in the community. A Girl Scout leader for 25 years, she was recently honored as a life member by the state GSA. She was president of several local PTAs; a life member and secretary of the PA State PTA; a past president of the Webster Class of Westminster Presbyterian Church; and past worthy matron of the Order of Eastern Star.

Eleanor also supported her daughter's auto racing efforts, working timing-scoring and baking her famous cookies for all the drivers. A talented crafter, she helped with many community charities and was always the willing volunteer.

She worked in the medical records department of Wyoming Valley Hospital for 15 years and then continued at Geisinger for 18 years, retiring in 1993.

The golden years then began when she met Wayne Brelsford and they were married in November of 1993. She was blessed to have Wayne's family of three sons, Doug (Lorraine), Wayne (Adele), and David (Marilynn) and grandchildren Melissa, Jesse, and her special angel, Casey.

With Wayne, she continued her volunteer efforts with the Korean War Veterans Auxiliary.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 from the Kniffen O'Malley Funeral Home Inc., 465 S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, with the Rev. Micki Robinson officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Greenwood Cemetery, Trucksville.
