Adelman, John Martin (March 23, 1876-May 12, 1914 –single –son of John Alois Adelman and Wilhelmina Schaefer –born Town of Liberty –farmer in Town of Liberty –on March 25, 1907 purchased from his father’s estate the farm at 6803 Tompkins Road in Section 19, Town of Liberty –owned this farm until his accidental death in 1914 –died from “fall from buggy, striking on head” –“A broken king bolt of a buggy in which he was driving sent John Adelman, a well-known St. Nazianz farmer to his death last night, Adelman being thrown over the dash board and striking his head on the hard roadway, and suffering a fracture of the skull that resulted in death. His dead body was found on the highway by D. Stiefvater, a neighbor, and a young lad named Ellingsted who were driving on the road. The accident happened at 8 o'clock last night and within a quarter of a mile of Adelman's home to which he was enroute when death overtook him. The horse, with the trout wheels of the buggy was found at the stable door when Adelman's body was conveyed to the home by Mr. Stiefvater and others who had been summoned. Physicians who examined the body found that death was due to an injury to the skull. Adelman was on his way home from a drive to the home of a neighbor and while no one witnessed the accident, the circumstances point clearly to the tragedy having been due to the breaking of the king bolt which threw Adelman to the road where his head came in contact with force with the hard ground. The body was not seriously bruised, the only injury being to the skull.”) –buried at St. Gregory Catholic Cemetery in St. Nazianz, Town of Eaton [buried in Section 3, Row 1, Lot 21 –stone] [death record Manitowoc 12-239]
