Ahl, Peter (Jan. 9, 1865-Aug. 14, 1944 –husband of Rosa Marx [married Oct. 16, 1888 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Alverno, Town of Manitowoc Rapids] –son of Peter Ahl and Ursula Riedl [Peter Sr. was born Sept. 18, 1825 in Bavaria and immigrated to the US on the boat Louis Napoleon departing from the Port of Hamburg, Germany, arriving in the Port of New York on July 23, 1858 in company of his wife Ursula and his children Catharine and John –died April 24, 1889 –Peter was a veteran of the Civil War –his wife Ursula Riedl was born Oct. 19, 1820 and died June 12, 1903 –both are buried at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Alverno, Town of Manitowoc Rapids] –born Town of Newton –farmer in Town of Newton until 1905, moving in 1905 to a farm near Pigeon Lake in Town of Meeme –in 1937, retired from farming –on Aug. 27, 1937 purchased the house at 107 South Second Avenue in St. Nazianz and lived in this house until his death in 1944 –his widow Rose then sold this house on Feb. 17, 1945 –died from “coronary occlusion –arteriosclerosis –arthritis”) –buried at St. Gregory Catholic Cemetery in St. Nazianz, Town of Eaton [buried in Section 4, Row 1, Lot 1] [marriage record Manitowoc 5-418] [death record Manitowoc 37-362]

Peter Ahl, 79, (photo) retired county farmer, died Monday afternoon at his home in St. Nazianz of a heart attack.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. from the St. Gregory's Catholic church in the village. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Ahl was born in Newton in 1865 and in 1888 he married Miss Rose Marx at Silver Lake. They located on a farm in Newton until 1905, when they moved to a farm home in Meeme. Five years ago they retired and moved into St. Nazianz.
In 1938 Mr. and Mrs. Ahl observed their golden wedding anniversary.
Survivors are the wife; three sons, Joseph of Silver Lake, Frank of Sheboygan, John, on the Meeme homestead; seven daughters, Mrs. Anna Frey of St. Louis, Mrs. Joseph Fitzgerald of Liberty, Mrs. Charles Hasmer of Francis Creek, Mrs. Gerlad (sic) Glaeser of route 4; Manitowoc, Mrs. Olive Dunn of Spring Valley, Mrs. William Bertsche
and Mrs. Lillian Lutzke of Meeme; 37 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. A son, George, died August 3, this year.
