Brunmeier, Joseph C. (Dec. 17, 1857-Jan. 25, 1940 –husband of Margaret Wimmer [1866-1952] –married Nov. 4, 1884 at St. Gregory Catholic Church in St. Nazianz, Town of Eaton –son of Joseph Brunmeier and Franciska Reuter –born Town of Liberty –farmer in Town of Eaton –on June 29, 1885 purchased from his parents the 120 acre farm centered at 8831 Glen Flora Road in Section 35, Town of Eaton –owned this farm until selling to his adopted son Henry Brunmeier on Nov. 4, 1919 –having no children of their own, they adopted two boys and two girls –in 1919, moved to St. Nazianz, where Joseph was the janitor at St. Gregory Church –on Nov. 4, 1919 purchased the house at 509 South Fourth Avenue in St. Nazianz from Joseph and Regina Baumgartner –while living here, rented rooms in the house to people and their families who worked for the Salvatorians –Joseph lived in his house until his death in 1940 –his widow Margaret continued to live here until selling to the Salvatorian Fathers in 1943 –died from “acute glomerular nephritis –myocardial failure –gangrene of left leg –thrombosis”) –buried at St. Gregory Catholic Cemetery in St. Nazianz, Town of Eaton [buried in Section 2, Row 16, Lot 11 –stone] [marriage record Manitowoc 5-224] [death record Manitowoc 33-171]

JOSEPH C. BRUNMEIER

Joseph Brunmeier, aged 82, died at the home of his son, Henry, who resides about two and one-half miles southwest of St. Nazianz, on Thursday morning at 11:45 o'clock.
Funeral services were conducted at 10 o'clock Monday morning at the St. Gregory Catholic church at St. Nazianz, with the Rev. Fintan Holzknecht (flaw, missing words) and burial was made at the adjoining church cemetery. The Holy Name society, of which the deceased was a member, attended the services in a body.
Mr. Brunmeier was born in Liberty township on December 17, 1857.
November 5, 1884 he was married to Miss Margaret Wimmer, and the couple celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary last year.
Following their marriage, the couple located on the farm now occupied by their son Henry. In 1915 they moved to St. Nazianz, where for a number of years Mr. Brunmeier was janitor at the St. Gregory's church. Due to Mr.
Brunmeier's death, he and his wife returned to their homestead farm to reside with their son in November 1939.
He is survived by the following: His widow; two adopted sons, Henry, on the homestead, and Anton, who lives in Seattle, Washington; two adopted daughters, Mrs. Edward Keller of Brillion, and Mrs. Peter Leschke of Osman;
two brothers, Ernest of Cleveland and Frank of California; one sister, Mrs. Anton Kerscher of Manitowoc, and 13 grandchildren.
