With full military honors the body of the late Mat Burkhart, who died at camp Grant, was laid to rest. The funeral was held from St. Gregory's church at St. Nazianz. Mr. Burkhart's home is at St. Nazianz but he has made his home at Valders for the past few years. Members of the crew of the United States' steamer Blue Ridge, the Home Guards and Catholic Foresters escorted the remains to their last resting place. Sincere sorrow was manifested by the large concourse of people present and deepest sympathy for the bereaved family was expressed. Private Burkhart is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Burkhart; also one brother, Peter and four sisters, Clara, Rose, Caroline and Pete Plotten.
