Burkart, Emma (April 11, 1898-May 18, 1916
–single
–daughter of Frank Burkart and Anna Fritz
–died from “convulsions epilepsy”
–“In my early childhood years I spent a lot of time caring for and playing with my sister, Emma. When she was quite small she had fallen down some steps and thereafter suffered from epileptic seizures and paralysis on one side. After some of these seizures, which were brought on by almost anything
–slamming doors, and bump, etc.
–she would often chase after me and blame me for them. I was never really afraid because I knew I could always outrun her. My parents took her to many doctors and even resorted to all kinds of ‘quack’ things to try to cure her, but nothing really helped. For some unexplainable reason, every spring there would be a few months when she went without a seizure and then I would have to take her to school with me until there were indications of the problem returning again.”
–from the childhood memories of Helen Burkart Schnettler) –buried at St. Gregory Catholic Cemetery in St. Nazianz, Town of Eaton [buried in Section 3, Row 2, Lot 36] [death record Manitowoc 13-427]
