Diem, Frederick (also shown as Godfried) (Jan. 24, 1853-Feb. 22, 1933 –husband of Rosa Mutz [married April 28, 1885 at St. Gregory Catholic Church in St. Nazianz, Town of Eaton] –son of George Diem and Barbara Bretcher –born New York City, New York –farmer in Town of Eaton –on April 22, 1885 purchased the southern 40 acres of his widowed father’s farm at 9118 Greendale Road in Section 35, Town of Eaton –on April 1, 1889 purchased the remaining 40 acres of this farm from his father –owned this farm until his death in 1933 –after his death his two daughters Flora Diem and Clara Diem Schema lived here until about 1980 –died from “cerebral thrombosis –ventricular fibrillation –general arteriosclerosis –senile dementia for 10 years”) –buried at St. Gregory Catholic Cemetery in St. Nazianz, Town of Eaton [buried in Section 3, Row 7, Lot 18 –stone] [marriage record Manitowoc 5-246] [death record Manitowoc 27-627]

St. Nazianz – Funeral services for Freed Diem, 79, who died of apoplexy Wednesday morning at his home two miles southwest of the village will be held Saturday morning at 10 o'clock at St. Gregory's church here. The Rev. Father Holzknecht will officiate and burial will be made in the adjoining cemetery.
Mr. Diem was born in New York City and came to St. Nazianz sixty-five years ago as a farmer. He was married to Miss Rosa Mutz forty-eight years ago. She preceded him in death ten years ago.
Survivors are; four daughters, Mrs. Jack Hofeltz at home, Mrs. Anton Bushman, Milwaukee and the Misses Flora and Clara Diem at home; three sons, George, California, and Peter and Joe at home; one brother, Henry Diem, School Hill and a sister, Mrs. Katie Schnettler Washington. There are also ??? grandchildren.
