Diem, Rose Barbara nee Mutz (Jan. 2, 1859-May 19, 1923 –wife of Frederick Diem [married April 28, 1885 at St. Gregory Catholic Church in St. Nazianz, Town of Eaton] –daughter of John Mutz and Barbara Stockburger –was a niece to Fr. Peter Andreas Mutz (1842-1907) –born Duerrenmett, Stetten, Wurttemberg, Germany –as with her uncle, was a Protestant who converted to the Catholic faith –immigrated to the US in 1879 –died from “chronic bronchitis –bronco pneumonia”) –buried at St. Gregory Catholic Cemetery in St. Nazianz, Town of Eaton [buried in Section 3, Row 7, Lot 17] [marriage record Manitowoc 5-246] [death record Manitowoc 20-187]

ROSA BARBARA DIEM

Death called Mrs. Fred. Diem at her home near St. Nazianz on Saturday, May 19, her demise being due to pneumonia.

Mrs. Diem, nee Rosa Barbara Mutz, was born in Wuertemberg, Germany, in 1856. She came to this country in 1879, and in 1885 was united in marriage to Fred. Diem. The couple settled on a farm near St. Nazianz where they have since been living. She was a member of the Christian Mothers society.

Mrs. Diem is survived by her husband and seven children, namely: Mrs. Rose Buschmann of Denver, Colo., Clara Diem of Chicago, Ill., the Misses Marie and Flora at home, George of Arlington, Calif., and Peter and Joseph at home. Three sisters and one brother also survive her. They are: Miss Anna Mutz of St. Nazianz, Mrs. P. Mueller of the town of Schleswig, Mrs. W. Graf in Germany, and George Mutz of Chelsea, Wis.

Funeral services were held this (Thursday) morning. Rev. E. Deibele officiating. Burial was made in St. Gregory's cemetery.
