Dunbar, John (1833-May 23, 1909 –husband of Mary Crowe [1841-1915] –son of John Dunbar and Margaret Kelly –born Ireland –arrived in US via Buffalo, New York in June of 1849 –applied for naturalization on Sept. 6, 1856 –farmer in the Town of Liberty –on Oct. 9, 1857, John purchased the 40 acres of the NW1/4 of the SW1/4 of Section 28, Town of Liberty and created a farmstead on this land –in the 1860 census for the Town of Liberty, John and Mary are shown living alone on this farm –on Oct. 9, 1857, John purchased the 20 acres of the S1/2 of the SE1/4 of the NW1/4 of Section 28, Town of Liberty –on Dec. 19, 1865, John purchase the 40 acres of the NE1/4 of the SE1/4 of Section 29, Town of Liberty –on Nov. 6, 1878, John purchased the 20 acres of the S1/2 of the SE1/4 of the NW1/4 of Section 29, Town of Liberty –John owned this 120 acre farm until his death in 1909 –after his death, this farm was owned by his son William Dunbar –in the 1905 census for the Town of Liberty, John and Mary are shown living on this farm with their son William –died from “cancer of throat –debility”) –buried at St. Gregory Catholic Cemetery in St. Nazianz, Town of Eaton [buried in Section 1, Row 12, Lot 5 –stone] [death record Manitowoc 9-153]

Death last Saturday of John Dunbar, an old settler, with burial today from St. Gregory Church. He leaves a wife, a brother near Manitowoc, 4 sons and a daughter.
