Eberle, Frank X. (May 13, 1861-May 29, 1929 –husband of Caroline Sonner [married Sept. 22, 1885 at St. Gregory Catholic Church in St. Nazianz, Town of Eaton] –son of Peter Eberle and Margareta Habich [Peter and Margareta were married in Jan. of 1850 at Altschweier, Baden –Margareta was a sister to Marcella Habich, who was the wife of Eustachuis Vetter] –born Altschweier, Baden –immigrated to the US in 1882 and immediately moved to St. Nazianz –saddler, harness maker –on May 4, 1885 purchased what was likely an existing communal house at 113 South Second Avenue in St. Nazianz –this house became not only his residence but also the location of his harness business –he lived and worked out of this house until his death in 1929 –this house was sold to his son Ambrose Eberle on Nov. 25, 1931 –Frank made harnesses, heavy duty for farm work, light duty for buggy use –he also sold whips, lap robes, horse blankets and collars –“In 1882 he moved to St. Nazianz where he conducted a harness business and where he has lived ever since.” –from obit. –on Dec. 21, 1914 purchased the 80 acre farm at 9723 Glen Flora Road in Section 35, Town of Eaton from Charles Karstaedt –on Aug. 9, 1919 sold this 80 acre farm to his son Joseph Eberle –from Dec. 19, 1906 to June 6, 1927 owned 60 acres in the S1/2 of the SE1/4 of Section 30, Town of Liberty –died from “apoplexy –senility” –died from “complications caused from a stroke suffered two years ago, and concussion of the brain.” –from obit) –buried at St. Gregory Catholic Cemetery in St. Nazianz, Town of Eaton [buried in Section 3, Row 5, Lot 27 –stone] [marriage record Manitowoc 5-263] [death record Manitowoc 25-16]

Frank X. Eberle, an old resident of this village, passed away at his home here early Wednesday morning from complications caused from a stroke suffered two years ago, and concussion of the brain.

The deceased was born in Altschwerer, Baden, Germany on May 13, 1861, and came to this country in 1880 and settled in Manitowoc county.

In 1882 he moved to St. Nazianz where he conducted a harness business and where he has lived ever since. His marriage to Miss Caroline Sonner occurred on September 22, 1885.

He is survived by his wife, and five children, Clara at home, Sister M. Talia, who is stationed at the Milwaukee convent, and Joseph, Anton F., and Ambrose L.,
all of whom live near St. Nazianz. One daughter, Minnie, passed away nine years ago. One brother, Joseph, of Omro, also survives, in addition to a number of grandchildren.

Mr. Eberle was a devoted member of the Holy Name Society, the Catholic Knights of Wisconsin, Branch No. 109, and the Third Order of St. Frances. Funeral services will be held from St. Gregory's church in St. Nazianz at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Fintan Holzknecht in charge of the rites.
Burial will take place in St. Gregory's cemetery.
