LONG ILLNESS FATAL TO MRS. JOHN ENDRIES, JR.
Among the saddest occurrences of recent months in this vicinity was the death last Saturday morning of Mrs. John Endries, Jr., after a lingering illness of many months. While her death was not unexpected, her friends and relatives entertained the hope for some time that her condition was improving and that she would be spared to her little family but their hopes were shattered as the condition of her health grew rapidly worse during the past few weeks. She had been a patient for several months at Maple Crest but was brought from there about two weeks ago to live with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Burkard who had removed from their farm to their present home in the village at about that time.
She was born here 26 years ago and spent all of her life in this vicinity, having attended the local school and being well known among the young people of the community. On June 5, 1923, she was united in marriage to John Endries, Jr., and with him established their home a few miles south of the village. Three children were born to this union, of whom two little boys, aged 3 and 4 years survive, the third having died a few months ago.
Besides her husband and two children, Mrs. Endries is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Burkhard, five brothers, Peter and Frank in Montana, Tony at Sheboygan, George at Manitowoc and Louis in this village and by three sisters, Miss Anna Burkhard, at home here, Mrs. Nic Schnettler, Jr., of New Holstein and Mrs. Herbert Neumeyer living near this village.
Funeral services with requiem mass by Rev. Fintan Holzknecht S.D.S. were held at St. Gregory's church Monday morning and interment was made in the adjoining cemetery.
The sympathy of the entire community is extended to the bereaved family and to the many other relatives of the deceased.
