Endries, John (Jan. 11, 1860-Sept. 20, 1938 –husband of Mary Gellings [married May 22, 1889 at St. Gregory Catholic Church in St. Nazianz, Town of Eaton] –son of Joseph Endries and Anna Justin –born Town of Manitowoc Rapids –moved with his parents to a farm at 16516 Bartel Road in Section 31, Town of Liberty in 1861 –farmer in Town of Eaton –on Nov. 19, 1884 purchased the 40 acre farm at 17726 Townline Road in Section 36, Town of Eaton from his uncle John Endries and his wife Susanne Marks –on Feb. 9, 1889 purchased the 40 acres to the west from his father –this purchase gave John ownership of the 80 acres of the W1/2 of the SE1/4 of Section 36, Town of Eaton –on Oct. 28, 1919, John purchased the 60 acre farm centered in the NE1/4 of the NW1/4 of Section 1, Town of Schleswig –this purchase increased the Endries farm to 140 acres –after this purchase, the farmstead on these 60 acres was razed –on March 30, 1938, John sold this 140 acre farm to his son John Peter Endries –John Peter Endries likely had been working this farm since his father moved to St. Nazianz in 1928 –soon after this sale John Sr. died on Sept. 18, 1938 –on Sept. 1, 1928 John purchased the Sears and Roebuck house at 209 South Second Avenue in St. Nazianz –lived in this house until his death in 1938 –shortly after, on Nov. 12, 1938, his wife Mary sold this house –died from “heart disease” –died from “heart disease –angina pectoris” –from burial permit) –buried at St. Gregory Catholic Cemetery in St. Nazianz, Town of Eaton [buried in Section 2, Row 13, Lot 8 –stone] [marriage record Manitowoc 5-451] [death record Manitowoc 32-171]

JOHN ENDRIES SR., 77, retired farmer, died early today at the home in the village of St. Nazianz. He had been seriously ill nearly four weeks.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. from the St.Gregory's Catholic church, St. Nazianz. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Endries was born in the county and spent his life farming.
Forty-nine years ago he married Miss Mary Gelling and they
located on a farm in Eaton, two miles south of St. Nazianz.
Ten years ago they retired and moved to the village.
Survivors are the widow; six sons, Gerhart, St. Nazianz; Clemens,Meeme; John, Schleswig; Herman, Eaton; Albin, Potter; Wilfred,Brillion; daughter, Mrs. Matt Benversie, School HIll; brother,Philip, city; sister, Mrs. Steve Stiefvater, St. Nazianz.
The body may be viewed at the home in St. Nazianz until the
hour of the services.
