Filz, Nicholas (Aug. 17, 1875-Dec. 22, 1941 –husband of Mary Arendt [married Jan. 11, 1899 at Luxemburg, Kewaunee County] –after Mary died on March 16, 1917, Nicholas re-married to Theresa Sproll [married Feb. 22, 1930 at St. Gregory Catholic Church in St. Nazianz, Town of Eaton] –after the death of Nicholas in 1941, Theresa re-married to Ambrose Eberle in 1951 –son of Joseph Filz and Anna Lanser –born Luxemburg, Kewaunee County –banker –moved to St. Nazianz from Luxemburg, Kewaunee County in 1908 and the next year organized the St. Nazianz State Bank, which he headed until his death in 1941 –on Aug. 10, 1908, the parents of Nicholas purchased the vacant lot at 204 East Birch Street in St. Nazianz and had a house built –Nichols and Mary lived in this house with Nicholas’ parents, with Nicholas inheriting the house upon his mother’s death in 1922 –Nicholas lived in this house until his death in 1941 –his widow, his second wife Theresa, continued to live here until selling in 1951, which is when she re-married to Ambrose Eberle –died from “cerebral hemorrhage and arteriosclerosis”) –buried at St. Gregory Catholic Cemetery in St. Nazianz, Town of Eaton [buried in Section 3, Row 5, Lot 7 –stone] [first marriage record in Kewaunee County] [second marriage record Manitowoc 22-661] [death record Manitowoc 34-645]
