Foley, Dr. Mark E. (Oct. 5, 1900-Feb. 8, 1983 –husband of Mary Gaffney [married Feb. 1, 1941 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fond du Lac] –son of James Foley and Alice Rabbit of Dalton, Green Lake County –born Marquette County –medical doctor –graduated from Marquette Medical School, Milwaukee in 1932 –in 1933 began his internship at Milwaukee County General Hospital –from 1934 to 1936 he practiced medicine at Hillsboro, Wisconsin and from 1936 to 1941 in St. Nazianz –served in the US Army from 1941 to 1947 –returned to his practice in St. Nazianz in May of 1954 and was the doctor for that village until retiring in 1981 –medical office was at 110 South Fourth Avenue in St. Nazianz –when he first returned, Dr. Foley lived in an apartment in the Forster Hall Building –on July 20, 1957 purchased the house at 110 South Sixth Avenue in St. Nazianz from Gaylord and Jeanette Stebnitz –Dr. Foley and his wife Mary lived in this house until they needed to move to a nursing home in Ripon, Fond du Lac County –after the death of Dr. Foley and his wife in 1983, this house was sold back to Gaylord and Jeanette Stebnitz –died from “hyperosmolar coma, three days –viral syndrome, 2 weeks –severe cerebral arteriosclerosis”) –buried at St. Gregory Catholic Cemetery in St. Nazianz, Town of Eaton [buried in Section 5, Row 8, Lot 5] [marriage record Fond du Lac 1941-71] [death record Fond du Lac 74-22]

DR. MARK E. FOLEY, 82, formerly of St. Nazianz, died Tuesday evening, Feb. 8, at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac. Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Gregory Catholic Church, St. Nazianz. The Rev. Lester Groeschl will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.
Dr. Foley was born Oct. 5, 1900, in Marquette County, son of the late James and Alice Rabbit Foley. He was graduated from Montello High School in 1920, from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in 1924 and from Marquette Medical School in 1932. In 1933 he began his internship at Milwaukee County General Hospital. From 1934 to 1936 he practiced medicine at Hillsboro, Wis., and from 1936 to 1941 at St. Nazianz. He served with the United States Army from 1941 to 1947, when he returned to St. Nazianz, retiring in 1981. He married Mary Gaffney Feb. 1, 1941, at Fond du Lac. He was on the staff of Holy Family Hospital and Memorial
Hospital, Manitowoc, Sheboygan Memorial Hospital and St. Nicholas Hospital Sheboygan and Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton. He was a member of Manitowoc County Medical Society, Wisconsin State Medical Society, American Academy of Family Physicians, Knights of Columbus Beaver Dam Council, St. Nazianz Lions Club, St. Nazianz Senior Citizens and American Legion
Skuowaty-Eberle Post of St. Nazianz.
Survivors include his wife, Mary, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dr. C. F. and Caroline Foley of Sparta and George and Madge Fley of Kenosha; a sister, Mrs. Bernice Little of LaCross; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Lynn Foley of Bonduel, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Five brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
Friends may call at St. Gregory Catholic Church from 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of service. There will be no Friday evening visitation at Christianson-Deja Funeral Home, St. Nazianz.
